2025 Annual Report

THE GOOD SHEPHERD FOUNDATION UPDATE November 2025

WHY DO WHAT WE DO?

Anna, a 13-year-old girl, arrived at the clinic with complaints of fever, headaches and dizziness for one week. She was diagnosed with typhoid fever. But Dr. Joseph noticed that inside her eyelid was very pale. He suspected anemia but was unable to establish the extent. He drew her blood and sent it for testing to a lab in St. Marc, 20 miles away. The lab called Dr. Joseph immediately after testing with the critical result of a hemoglobin of 4, which should have been between 11 and 13. Dr. Joseph called Anna’s parents immediately and arranged for them to take her to St. Marc, where she was hospitalized for 4 days and received 2 units of blood. She is now home and doing very well. Without Dr. Joseph, his quick response, and his foresight to send her blood to be tested, Anna would have had serious heart problems and possible death.

The Good Shepherd Foundation(TGSF) 2024 year end financial report and 2025 Highlights

WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE CELEBRATED 14 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE ON OCTOBER 1, 2025

The Good Shepherd Foundation provides health care in Haiti, in the Chevreau community comprising about 20 villages. In 2024, we served an average of 500 people each month for a total of more than 5,500 patient visits for the year. To date, in 2025, we have raised over $54,000 and are serving almost 600 patients per month.

Our Finances

  • Total 2024 revenue was $98,470 – a combination of donations from about 300 donors and a small stipend from each patient.
  • A Grant from Kings Bay rotary of $19,140, initiated by Ron Lundberg over 5 years ago, finally came to fruition, and was used for building 1 well and 3 latrines, using local Haitian contractors, and completed in October 2025.
  • 98% of revenue collected directly supports the work of TGSF clinic.
  • If a patient is unable to pay the small fee charged, they still receive care.

Latrine and Well Construction

  • In the words of Dr. Joseph: “This project plays a beneficial role and allows for a significant reduction in the spread of waterborne diseases, such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid, by preventing the contamination of water and food. Latrines prevent the pollution of water sources and ensure the dignity of individuals, especially women and girls, by providing them with a safe and private place to relieve themselves. Latrines are not only a matter of hygiene,
  • A local committee has been established to oversee maintenance issues.
  • Fr. Joseph dedicated the new construction on October 8 th, and it is now open for community use.

Additional Services in the past 22 months:

  • We have started an educational session each Monday morning before the clinic opens, attended by about 40 community members, including topics such as:
    • intestinal parasites
    • breast health
    • latrine maintenance and proper use
    • family planning
    • hand washing
    • sexually transmitted diseases
    • maternal/child care
  • We now provide childhood vaccines, through the Ministry of Public Health, at no cost to TGSF or our patients.
  • Purchase of a microscope and centrifuge has allowed testing of blood work and chemistries to be conducted onsite at a fraction of the cost (1/3) of external lab and provides the opportunity for Definitive Diagnoses vs Presumptive Diagnoses.
  • We have not been impacted by the gang challenges that currently plague Haiti.
  • WE HAVE NOT HAD A CHOLERA OUTBREAK SINCE AUGUST 2023!

We appreciate your partnership that allows us to serve the people of this rural area of Haiti. In the midst of all the chaos in Haiti, TGSF has created a safe, sanitary, and healthy place of refuge.
We could not do this without your support.
